Privacy Policy for Foodis

The short version: We don't collect anything. Foodis has no backend servers, no accounts, no tracking, and no data collection. Everything happens on your device. We mean it.

Welcome to Foodis by NORAS LABS. This privacy policy is remarkably simple because we've built Foodis to be completely privacy-first. Our business is selling great software, not selling your data.

1. Information We Collect

None. Zero. Nothing.

NORAS LABS does not collect, store, transmit, or process any of your personal information. Foodis does not require you to create an account. There are no servers storing your data. We literally have no backend infrastructure for Foodis.

2. Where Your Data Lives

All your data — recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, preferences, and everything else — lives exclusively on your device and, if you choose, in your private iCloud account.

  • Local Storage: All app data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's secure on-device storage.
  • iCloud Sync (Optional): If you enable iCloud, your data syncs between your own devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) using Apple's private iCloud service. This sync happens directly between your devices and Apple's servers — NORAS LABS never sees this data.
  • No NORAS LABS Servers: We have no servers storing, processing, or accessing your Foodis data. Period.

3. AI and Machine Learning

Foodis uses AI features to help you with meal planning and recipe suggestions. All AI processing happens locally on your device.

  • AI runs using on-device machine learning (Apple's Core ML and similar frameworks)
  • Your prompts, recipes, and AI interactions never leave your device
  • No data is sent to external AI servers or third-party services
  • Complete privacy — your recipes and meal plans stay yours

4. Apple Services We Use

While NORAS LABS doesn't collect your data, Foodis does interact with Apple's systems to provide you with a great experience:

  • App Store: For purchasing and managing your Foodis subscription. Apple handles all payment processing. We receive no personal information from this — only a confirmation that a subscription is active.
  • iCloud (Optional): If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs between your devices via your private iCloud account. This is handled entirely by Apple, and we have no access to this data.
  • StoreKit: For subscription verification. Apple provides anonymous verification that doesn't expose your identity to us.

These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours.

5. Information We DO NOT Collect

To be absolutely crystal clear, we never collect, access, store, or transmit:

  • Your name, email, phone number, or any contact information
  • Your location data
  • Your photos or camera access
  • Your contacts
  • Your recipes, meal plans, or shopping lists
  • Your dietary preferences or health information
  • Any analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics
  • Your device identifiers or IP address
  • Any AI prompts or interactions

We literally cannot access your data because we have no servers to receive it.

6. Data Sharing and Selling

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with anyone. This is easy to promise because we don't have your data in the first place.

7. Household Sharing (If Applicable)

If Foodis includes household sharing features, this works through Apple's iCloud sharing infrastructure. You can share recipes and meal plans with family members you explicitly choose. This sharing:

  • Happens directly via iCloud between you and your chosen household members
  • Does not involve NORAS LABS servers
  • Is controlled entirely by you through Apple's sharing permissions

8. Data Security

Your data security is guaranteed by two things:

  • Local Storage: Your data is protected by your device's passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID
  • iCloud Encryption: If you use iCloud sync, Apple encrypts your data both in transit and at rest

Since NORAS LABS has no servers storing your data, there's no risk of us being hacked, having a data breach, or misusing your information.

9. Children's Privacy

Foodis does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for all ages because there is no data collection whatsoever.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, we will post the updated version here and update the effective date. If we ever change our approach to data collection (which would be a fundamental architecture change), we will notify you clearly within the app and give you control over any new features.

11. Your Rights

Under privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA, you have rights regarding your personal data. The good news? Since we don't collect any of your data, there's nothing for us to access, delete, or export. You are in complete control because everything stays on your device.

We don't collect your data because we don't need to — and more importantly, because you shouldn't have to give it up to use a meal planning app. Your recipes, your plans, your privacy.
